“Freud Conche avec Parrots”
18 x 180 cm
This is a work, “Freud Conche avec Parrots” (18x180cm) for Kaput Magazine art section, that returns to my fascination with the images from magazines that came from Europe to my childhood family home in Buenos Aires, Argentina; my parents, children of immigrants, both psychologists and artists, received all types of publications by subscription that were a great influence on my artistic training and that were distant and super modern compared to my childhood reality.
In the pre-internet era, through, for example, the French magazine “Actuel” in the eighties, I could access a mix of information ranging from art, video installations, politics, eroticism, advertisements, nightlife in the form of shocking images.
In 1997, as an artist, I made my first work with this material, in a video called “Magazines” made of close-ups in which I immersed myself in the homes or bedrooms of German architecture magazines (“Zuhause”), in the graphics of an advertisement, or on a naked body.
This resulted in a video installation that consisted of an armchair and a breakfast tray with some of this material to physically browse and at the same time watch the video that attempted to capture the pleasure of the printed images and their textures.
