Talking Kaput 10 w/ Barnt & John Talabot

“If we’re not kaput, it wasn’t kaput.”

Monday morning, 10 a.m., just 48 hours have passed since the end of what we found to be a very enthusiastic last “Talking kaput” event of the year. And we would be lying if we said we were fit again. But loosely based on the Rödelheim Hartreim project (“If it’s not hard”) applies: “If we’re not kaput, it wasn’t kaput.”

After two more concert and reading-oriented evenings in the Green Room of Cologne’s Stadtgarten, which accordingly (and because of the residents) had an early curfew of 10 p.m., this time it went all-nighter distance. All the better that not only a few Kaputies joined us for the mission call: the club night and the introductory conversation with Daniel Ansorge aka Barnt and Oriol Riverola, better known by his stage name John Talabot. The focus of the talk was on the record companies Magazine and Hivern Discs, which are (co-)operated by Daniel and Uri. Together we discussed the importance of labels in the age of iTunes, Bandcamp and Spotify. The short summary (the documentary video follows the days), as confusing as it is logical: why they do what they do, they often don’t know themselves, but it still attracts magically and there is no option to do so.

The Kaput team would like to thank the Gewölbe team for the great support, which also made this third and final event of the 2022 season an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. Furthermore, we would like to thank the cultural office of the city of Cologne for the support that has been given to us for seven years now. Highly appreciated.
We are already saying goodbye for the winter break, which we will spend like everyone in thick hoodies and with a suspicious look at the power meter, but rest assured, we are already working at full speed on the program for the 2023 season. More soon on this channel.
Until then, enjoy the pictures from our fantastic cameraman and photographer Roman Szczesny.
