Recap video (endless love for Jan Höhe) with highlights from the talk and performances.
In conversation with Kaput editors-in-chief Thomas Venker and Linus Volkmann, Cologne-based artist Maria Wildeis and Istanbul-based artist Ece Özel discussed their respective artistic practices – as a DJ, producer and sound artist and as a painter, respectively.
As always with Kaput, the focus was not only on art, but also on the socio-economic working conditions of female artists and, in this case, the respective communities in Cologne and Istanbul.
In view of the current political unrest in Istanbul, music as the soundtrack of resistance was also discussed.
Performances: Maria Wildeis presented a live set with material from her current album ‘Deep Meaning’. Ece Özel framed the evening with two fantastic sets.
Talking Kaput is sponsored by the Cultural Office of the City of Cologne.
