“If I Were A Sneaker”
For the first time we post a videoclip as our weekly column. Listen carefully to the lyrics and you know why.
The clip, directed by Ted Gaier, Schorsch Kamerun, Timo Schierhorn & Katharina Duve, comes from German avant-garde band Goldenen Zitronen. The song is titled »If I Were A Sneaker« and works on two narrative levels. The lyrics illuminate the juxtaposition between Europe’s closed-door immigration policies and the free global movement of consumer items. Visually, they invite us into the world of the successful elite where every key position is occupied by someone who is – supposedly – evidently not of German origin.
