Honma Museum of Art
The Honma Museum of Art, situated in Sakata, Japan, was the first privately-owned art museum in Japan after the second world war. The museum is a combination of two buildings, the original Edo Period villa (today still in function as exhibition place and also the most beautiful museums cafe one could imagine) and the later added concrete building (now the main exhibition space). The exhibitions are changing and concentrate mostly on Japanese art.
Even more impressive is the garden of the villa, a never ending kind of magic maze that invites every other second to stop and get lost in the specific perspectiv. Best is to order a tea and watch the garden from several rooms, for example the upper room with its beautiful old tatamis. The wind and the changing light will be creating an incredible every changing atmosphere.
