MAKING TIME 2024 IN 16 PICTURES

Making Time 2024 was simply the best festival experience ever ever. All those lucky folks who made it to Philly will agree. Jonathan Forsythe captured some of them on photo, and some of these beautiful cats also shared some thoughts with us.

Big respect to Making Time transcendental visionary “Dave P” Pianka, his partner in crime and fun Lauren Downing, of course also Dave´s awesome mother (she and his aunt were literally all the time on the festival site for three days) and the whole team behind Making Time.

A long read review of the festival as well as more performance and atmo pictures gonna drop later on the weekend. Expect emotional shots and words.

How did you hear about the Making Time Festival?
From my friends that were playing and we then came as a crew.

Is this your first time attending?
It’s always nice to represent your friends and couple that with it’s line up and location it felt like a vibe that I’d love to sample.

What were your musical and non-musical highlights of the festival?
No musically it was the location and the history that must have occurred where we were all dancing.
Musically it was Bicep & Optimo B2B, Paranoid London and John Talbot.

Which area of the festival did you feel most comfortable?
I thought they were all a buzz.

Did you eat at any of the food vendors? If so: which ones and how would you rate the quality and choice? Is there anything else you’d like to see offered?
Unfortunately, I didn’t eat any food.

Do you plan to come back again in 2025?
If it can be worked in to a US trip (I live in London) then very much it’s a yes!

Favorite song / track of 2024 so far?

Through a friend

Is this your first time attending?
Yes, this was my first time. I love seeing live music, especially spending all day dancing and enjoying a variety of great music at a festival!

What were your musical and non-musical highlights of the festival?
My highlights were finding the sound bath along the transcendental trail and the dj sets in the bunker

Which area of the festival did you feel most comfortable?
The whole thing was magical but definitely enjoyed enjoying the beautiful weather on the lawn by the main stage,

Did you eat at any of the food vendors? If so: which ones and how would you rate the quality and choice? Is there anything else you’d like to see offered?
Yes. I don’t remember the name of the vendor but it was all vegan and I enjoyed the meal.

Do you plan to come back again in 2025?
Absolutely!

Favorite song / track of 2024 so far?
Don’t have a favorite new song this year but I got really into Chapelle Roan and have been listening to more NIN, Miley Cyrus, Sturgil Simpson, LCD Soundsystem, Rubblebucket, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Bright Eyes than anything else.

Jax & Trix

How did you hear about the Making Time Festival?

Jax: I heard about making time through my girlfriend, as well as a couple social media advertisements, the lineup was incredibly stacked and i knew we had to go, i never expected to see so many of my favorite artists in one place.
Trix: the grapevine

Is this your first time attending?

Jax: this is my first time going to an electronic music festival, i usually attend local shows in
brooklyn, smaller underground electronic shows and renegades, i was curious to experience
musicians i love in a festival setting
Trix: yes

What were your musical and non-musical highlights of the festival?

Jax: My musical highlights during the festival were Elena Colombi and Wata Igarashi’s DJ sets. I’d seen Wata Igarashi in brooklyn before but this experience in the Majestic Zone, with those massive stacks vibrating the ground below me, it blew me away, i danced non stop despite only getting one hour of sleep the night before
I felt a similar exhilaration during Elena Colombi’s set, they’re one of those artists i admired but never expected to be able to see live since they dont frequent the north east very often, i felt my anticipation growing for their set over the three days i attended and again i danced through the entire set, the speakers were so subby i felt my entire spine vibrating along with the music, i was definitely right to be so excited for their set.
One non musical highlight was @midi_lizard’s visuals during Jake Muir’s set. I’d been a fan of his work for years and unexpectedly got to meet one of my favorite VJs in person, that was definitely super cool
Trix: Wata Igarashi for sure non musical – hoarding lollipops from the rave safe booth

Which area of the festival did you feel most comfortable?

Jax: I felt the most comfortable in the Great Circles Zone, the pillows sprawled out on the
ground, the low lighting, i am a big fan of ambient music and this space was so full of
appreciation for the musicians, you could really feel everyones hearts aligning in there 🙂
Trix: right up by the speakers at the pringle (Majestic Zone)

Did you eat at any of the food vendors? If so: which ones and how would you rate the quality and choice? Is there anything else you’d like to see offered?
Jax: I had a very yummy pesto sandwich while i was at the festival, pretty good quality food, i do
wish there were more POC vendors!
Trix: it was ok

Do you plan to come back again in 2025?

Jax: I would love to attend this festival again in 2025, and hopefully see more of my fav niche artists play! it would be incredible to have some NYC local artists play a festival like this, performers like dreamcrusher and dani rev are extremely meaningful to me and i think other electronic music enthusiasts would love them too
Trix: definitely

Favorite song / track of 2024 so far?
